Audrey Kern, MD

Dr. Audrey Kern is Board Certified in Addiction Medicine, received her MD from New York Medical College, and completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at Albany Medical Center. She has served on active duty as a Major in the US Air Force, and was the Medical Director for both the Vermont Department of Corrections and the Addiction Research Clinic at DHMC.Dr. Kern believes in a treatment goal of harm reduction, and that medication-assisted therapy can help those in recovery reach their personal goals while helping to protect them from relapse.Dr. Audrey Kern's interest in medicine began during her work in Outward Bound, where she became an EMT and Wilderness First Responder. This inspired her toward her future specialty, Emergency Medicine. Her career evolved as she perceived the great need for providers to help patients suffering from addiction. She became Board Certified in Addiction Medicine in 2010.
