What is required to increase my waiver from 100 patients to 275 patients?
For physicians to increase their waiver limit from 100 to 275, they must be board certified in addiction medicine (or equivalent) or be part of a Qualified Practice Setting.
What is a Qualified Practice Setting?
A Qualified Practice Setting must provide the following:
- Professional coverage for medical emergencies during closed hours.
- Case management for behavioral health services.
- Usage of electronic medical records system.
- Checking prescription drug monitoring program.
- Acceptance of 3rd party payments.
How long until I can get my limit increased to 275 patients?
Requesting an increase in your limit can occur once you have a 100 person limit for 1 year. The regulations designed the increases in 1 year increments as follows: year 1 = 30 patients; year 2 = 100 patients; year 3 = 275 patients.
What if I don’t have a waiver?
If you don’t have a waiver, Bright Heart Health will reimburse you the cost to get the waiver. The course is 8 hours in length and can be taken entirely online.
